McClellan Memorial Award Presented to
Jimmie Maze
A special ceremony was held April 6 in the Manufacturing Center at Plant 1 to honor the 2009 Dave McClellan Memorial Award recipient – Jimmie Maze. Maze, Manufacturing Supervisor, was presented the award by Mike DeFatta, Vice President of Manufactured Products.
In his position as Manufacturing Supervisor, Maze oversees all manufacturing jobs in the shop area and supervises over 40 employees. He also operates machines in the shop, as needed, to get products out the door and shipped to the customer.
Maze was described by his nominator as “always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and done right.” He was also cited for being very helpful to fellow employees.
Maze was presented a $100 Wal-Mart gift certificate and a designated, front-row parking space for a year. In addition, Maze’s name was engraved on the McClellan award plaque that is displayed prominently in the lobby of Manufacturing Center 1.
The award is given in memory of McClellan, who was a long-time, dedicated employee of TBE and a close friend to many of those he worked with. He was highly respected for his work ethic, for doing the best job possible, and for his willingness to help his co-workers – all qualities on which the award is based. McClellan died in 1993 after a battle with cancer.
Nominations for the award are accepted annually from employees in manufacturing, maintenance, and quality operations. The winner is selected by a different committee of employees each year.
The 2009 selection committee included Oscar Daniel, Phyllis Grela, Marty Hall, John Myles, Ivy Nelson, and Steve Wilson.
