Congratulations to Teledyne’s Class of 2010


Teledyne’s Engineered Systems Segment employees and their children have put on their graduation hats and robes, walked the walk, and received their hard-earned diplomas.  The Class of 2010 included: 24 high school graduates, 2 who received associate’s degrees, 15 who earned bachelor’s degrees, 8 who received master’s degrees, 1 who received a medical degree, and 1 who earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree.  We salute our esteemed group of graduates!

 

High School Graduates

Josh Beaumont, son of Ron Beaumont, graduated from The Way Home Christian School.  He attended public school his first 2 years of high school and played tuba in the school band, which received several awards.  He was also selected to play in the Madison County Honor Band.   Josh is a competitive video gamer and is currently working toward becoming a professional video gamer.  He also enjoys writing and playing guitar and drums.  Josh is attending the University of North Alabama (UNA), where he is majoring in computer science.

 

Robbie Bonds, son of Byron Bonds, is an honor graduate of Grissom High School (GHS), where he was a member of the German Club, National Honor Society, the Marching Band, and Symphonic II Band.  He won the University of Alabama (UA) Mercedes-Benz Best High School Senior German Language Competition and placed second in the state-wide “We the People” competition.  Robbie completed a 4-year morning seminary course of study at his church this year and participated in advancement and high adventures with his Boy Scout troop.  He received the UA Honors Engineering Scholarship, the Mercedes-Benz UA Scholarship for German Language, a University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Presidential Scholarship, and the UAH Bell Memorial Scholarship.  Prior to starting college at UAH this fall, Robbie traveled for several weeks this summer, completed his service project toward earning his Eagle Scout rank, and took summer classes at UAH.  He is majoring in optical engineering at UAH.

 

Eric Brosz, son of Todd Brosz, is a graduate of Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, CO.  He has been a member of the Boy Scouts for 12 years and earned a triple crown for participating in various activities at the Boy Scouts High Adventure Bases located at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, the Charles L. Sommers Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness in Minnesota, and the Sea Base in the Bahamas.  He currently is in the co-ed Venturing Scout program for scouts up to age 21.  Eric enjoys skateboarding, rock climbing, scuba diving, camping, hiking, sailing, and canoeing.  Eric, who is unsure as to what he is going to major in, is currently attending Pikes Peak Community College, and he has applied for a U.S. Coast Guard slot next summer.

 

Mary Caillouet, daughter of Patricia Caillouet, received an Honors Diploma from Athens High School, where she received the Top Twenty Academic Achievement Award and the Dale D. Hawley Leadership Award.  She was a member of the Beta Club, French Club, National Honor Society, and National Arts Honor Society.  Mary served as Student Council president and, through the Student Government Association (SGA), she attended several leadership conferences and camps and organized fundraisers for St Jude’s Hospital and Haiti earthquake relief.  Outside of school, she served as a counselor for Camp Hope, a HOSPICE day camp for children who have lost loved ones; was a team member/co-director of her church’s CROSS retreat team; assisted in teaching Sunday school; and was active in her church youth group.  Mary is majoring in interior design and business at Auburn University (AU) and received the Spirit of AU Scholarship, AU Board of Trustees Scholarship, AU Leadership Scholarship, Kathryn Ann Collier Scholarship, Arthur Burnette Scholarship in Business, and Elizabeth Brett Leadership Scholarship.

 

Amanda Carden, daughter of Rick Carden, is an honor graduate of Bob Jones High School (BJHS), where she was in the Top 10% of her class, served as an ambassador, and played softball, earning the highest GPA on her softball team.  Amanda was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, the English National Honor Society, and Beta Club.  She is also a member of the Health Occupation Students of America and the Huntsville Hospital Leadership Foundation.  Amanda, who earned a Collegiate Scholarship and Alumni Scholarship to UA, is majoring in nursing at UA.

 

Jesse DeFatta, son of Chris DeFatta, graduated with honors and received an Advanced Diploma from Hazel Green High School.  Jesse maintained an “A” average in high school and received an academic scholarship from UAH, where he is majoring in mechanical engineering.  He enjoys playing guitar and listening to music in his spare time.  Before starting college this fall, Jesse worked in construction during the summer with his grandfather.

 

Preston Fogg, son of Tony Fogg, graduated with honors from Ardmore High School (AHS).  Preston played varsity baseball for 4 years and varsity football for 2 years, earning the title of 2010 Class 4A Region 8 Bryant Jordan Scholar Athlete of the Year.  He was voted Mr. AHS and was a member of the Senior Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Preston, who enjoys hunting, fishing, kayaking, and 4-wheeling in his spare time, earned a Presidential Scholarship to UAH, where he is majoring in civil engineering.

 

Bridgett Grela, daughter of Phyllis Grela, graduated from Athens High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club.  Bridgett was active in the local Athens theatre and had the leading role in several plays.  She attended church camp as an active member of her church youth group and participated in volunteer projects in her community.  In her spare time, Bridgett enjoys math, theatre, reading, and spending time with her friends.  She is attending UNA, where she is majoring in education.

 

Chase Hall, son of John Hall, graduated with honors from Hartselle High School.  He was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, and the Latin Club.  Chase played varsity football for 2 years and varsity baseball for 2 years.  He received the NASA INSPIRE Award for 2009-2010 and was selected as a Corps of Cadet finalist at Texas A&M University. Chase is majoring in aerospace engineering at UA, where he received scholarships for being selected as a Collegiate Scholar, Engineering Honors Scholar, and Alumni Scholar.  He was also admitted into UA’s Air Force ROTC College and plans to pursue an Air Force career. His future plans include attending graduate school, where he will further his studies in engineering and business.

 

Amber Hersh, daughter of Don Hersh, is a graduate of BJHS, where she was a member of Key Club; Beta Club; FBLA; and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).  Amber served as her school’s FCCLA president and the FCCLA state president her senior year.  She was a JV basketball cheerleader, leading her squad as the co-captain her sophomore year, and served as president of the local United Way Youth Leaders Council her senior year.  Amber was the recipient of the Johnson and Wales University Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) scholarship and the Alabama Career and Technical Education State Advisory Council Career and Technical Student Organization State President’s Scholarship.  She has volunteered in the community with CASA, Hospice, and the Huntsville Child Care Center and enjoys playing guitar, singing country music, and traveling.  Amber attends UA and plans to major in business management or marketing, with an emphasis in entrepreneurship.
