Become A Member of the Teledyne Booster Club and Buck-of-the Month Club – Employees Having Fun and Helping Each Other

Continuous growth at Teledyne Brown and Teledyne Solutions has brought an influx of new employees to the companies.  As a new employee, you are confronted with many changes and orientating yourself to a new company and new job.

The board members of two very worthy, employee-oriented organizations at Teledyne – the Teledyne Booster Club and the Buck-of-the-Month Club – would like to welcome you and make your transition easier by informing you of the opportunity to join other employees at social events and help your fellow employees in times of need.

If you are already an employee of Teledyne Brown or Teledyne Solutions, take another look at these organizations and what they offer.   Consider signing up today.

Teledyne Booster Club

The Teledyne Booster Club offers an array of events and activities for just a yearly membership fee of $12.  Your money goes a long way in many ways – here’s how.

There are several monthly events that give Club members discounted prices to fun events that vary every year.  The Company and the Club also jointly sponsor the annual Christmas party, which any TBE/TSI employee can attend.  The Club Board members organize the event, and club membership fees (matched by Corporate) help pay for the event in addition to Company funds.

The Booster Club also offers numerous courtesy services to all employees, including discount tickets you can buy onsite to community sports events like hockey and baseball and to Big Spring Jam, the annual musical festival held in downtown Huntsville.

The Club is involved with many activities the whole family can enjoy.  It provides the annual Easter Egg Hunt volunteers, who hide the candy and dress up as event characters. New this year, the Club also provided a magic show and balloon clown at the event, which were big hits with the children.   It also sponsors a special magic show at the annual company picnic and coordinates  spring and fall discounted book fairs and the annual Christmas Craft Fair that employees and their families can attend.

As a remembrance to employees who have passed away or if an employee has lost a child or spouse, the Booster Club Welfare fund purchases fruit baskets during the holiday season, and the Board welfare director arranges delivery to the surviving spouse/family of the employee or to the employee at work.

The Club’s Welfare Fund also financially assists employees in times of need and sponsors those who participate in and/or volunteer for walks, runs, golf tournaments, or other non-profit organization fundraisers.

This Welfare Fund is again supported by your membership dollars matched by Corporate.

So, join the Booster Club and support the Club and its Board.  Show you care about your fellow employees in times of need and in their volunteer efforts in the community.  It’s through your minimal yearly membership fee of $12 and matching funds that the Club can offer most of these activities.

You may authorize your yearly membership fee of $12 to be payroll deducted by filling out a membership card available in Human Resources, Payroll, or on the Club website found under Employee Interests on the intranet.  For additional information, please see the Club website or contact membership director Suzanne Knight at ext. 61178 or via email at suzanne.knight@tbe.com

Buck-of-the-Month Club

The Buck-of-the-Month Club is a company organization supported solely through voluntary employee contributions that was created to help the employees of Teledyne Brown and Teledyne Solutions or their immediate families through unexpected tragedy or hardship.

The Buck-of-the-Month Club has assisted well over 100 employees who have needed financial assistance for various situations since its inception in 1989 following the devastating tornado that hit the Airport Road and Jones Valley areas.  Several employees who lived in these areas suffered major losses and their co-workers wanted to help, but no means existed within the Company to do so at that time.

Due to the joint efforts of several TBE employees, the Buck-of-the-Month Club was established, and through ongoing employee contributions, the Club continues to be a source of aid to employees in need today.

Employees are urged to support this Club and its efforts because its continued success depends on its members’ financial support.  Also, one never knows when unexpected hardship could strike, even if you think you’re prepared for disaster or health problems.

It’s simple to join and strictly voluntary – just complete a payroll deduction card, which is available in Payroll or Human Resources.  Membership only requires a minimum pledge of $12 per year (with automatic payroll deduction as an option).  The giver’s deduction will be repeated annually until revoked by the employee.

The majority of the monies collected is deposited in an interest-bearing account, with a lesser amount located in a quickly accessible checking account.

A committee of four employees oversees and determines the distribution of funds, using the Club’s bylaws as its guidelines.  Committee members are Tom Bouska, (x62164), Jennifer Geist (x61425), Brad Taylor (x61731), and Jackie Zarzour (x61649).

An employee who needs immediate assistance or is aware of the emergency needs of a fellow employee should contact one of these committee members.  Additional information can be found on the TBE intranet under TBE Info, Buck-of-the-Month Club.
