CMMI Level 2 Assessment Achieved

On Nov. 7, the TBE Software Group, consisting of the MDS and EADSIM Projects and led by John Regner, Vice President of Defense Systems, successfully completed a Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model IntegrationTM (CMMI) Level 2 assessment.  This assessment is the first step in the Company’s progression to Level 3, scheduled for completion in May 2009.

CMMI is a model that establishes key processes of an effective software project, from planning and engineering to managing software development and maintenance.  CMMI has become an integral part of Teledyne Brown’s software development and sustainment activities.

The assessment team consisted of Katrenia King, Edwina Musante, Derriel Theriot, and Cassidy Campbell and was lead by Norman Hammock of A-1 Independent Consulting of Birmingham, Ala.

The assessment involved the review of TBE’s established CMMI procedures for compliance to the standard, interviews with project personnel who actually perform the activities described in the procedures to ensure that activities are conducted as documented, and review of documented objective evidence proving that processes are being followed.

Regner expressed his appreciation for a job well done, “Preparation and execution of a CMMI assessment is a difficult and time-consuming process.  I’d like to thank all of those individuals who played a part in achieving this first CMMI goal.”
