TBE and TSI Present 2008 Special Awards
Anding, Greising, Bledsoe, Langford, Fowler, High, and Sutherland honored
Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) and Teledyne Solutions, Inc. (TSI) have selected the following employees to receive special awards for their significant accomplishments in 2008.
Recognizing the highest level of technical accomplishments throughout the company is the Dr. Harry J. Watson award, which was initiated in 1987 to honor the late Dr. Watson for his many contributions to the company.
Other TBE awards include the Technical Employee of the Year; James Michael Scherer, Sr. Administrative Employee of the Year; and the Support Employee of the Year. Awards presented by TSI include the Dr. Ronald L. Lemke Engineer of the Year, Technical Employee of the Year, and Administrative/Support Employee of the Year.
Dr. Harry J. Watson Engineer/Scientist of the Year
R. Charles Anding, Chief Engineer of Defense Systems (Chief Engineer of Aerospace Systems at the time of award), is the winner of the prestigious Dr. Harry J. Watson Engineer/ Scientist of the Year award.
Anding is a critical member of the Gas Centrifuge Service Module (GCSM) development program, responsible, with his teams, for the unique designs of three key subsystems and their implementation to ensure functionality of the end product leading up to delivery. Under strict time constraints and working to resolve extremely complex and unique problems, Anding demonstrated outstanding leadership, engineering expertise, and technical knowledge to apply strong systems and electrical engineering skills to design, implement, and test functional and robust subsystems used within the GCSM. He is also known for fostering and promoting learning among young engineers.
According to his nominator, “Charles requires minimal guidance, working independently and efficiently ... demonstrates a strong work ethic … respects customer questions and issues while offering clear and concise responses and solutions … works effectively in a team environment …”
A 29-year employee of TBE, Anding holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Systems Engineer, and 2007 TBE Fellow.
Mike Bledsoe (TSI) and Kimberly Krajna (Manufactured Products) were also finalists.
TBE Technical Employee of the Year
Mark T. Greising, Lead Piping Designer for the Gas Centrifuge Service Module (GCSM) project in Manufactured Products, was selected as the TBE Technical Employee of the Year.
Greising has been the driving force behind the design of the GCSM piping system, which has been a complex task requiring attention to detail and many long hours. He combined the architectural style documentation of six different service modules supplied by the customer and created the basis for a documentation package that enables TBE to manufacture the GCSM equipment in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Greising’s expertise, thoroughness, and tireless efforts have resulted in saving many man-hours and costs in manufacturing.
According to his nomination, “Mark is TBE’s expert on drawing and engineering standards and specifications. He’s a team player who is modest, quiet, unassuming, and never complains, but is driven to perfection. You can count on Mark to get the job done and done right.”
Greising earned an Associate degree in applied science from Calhoun Community College and has completed numerous special training courses.
Jimmy Eckles (Manufactured Products), Alan Langford (TSI), and Joshua Trexler (Defense Systems) were also finalists.
