Dr. Ronald R. Lemke Engineer of the Year (TSI)

 

Mike B. Bledsoe, Jr., a senior systems engineer at TSI, is the recipient of the Dr. Ronald R. Lemke Engineer of the Year award at TSI.


Because of his technical and systems expertise, Bledsoe was selected by the Missile Defense Agency Targets and Countermeasures Directorate to be the Systems Engineering Technical Director, which requires constant coordination and diplomacy with multiple customers, target contractors, and target users.  His primary responsibilities include management of the Technical Analysis Team, making decisions involving mission requirements development, target solutions, and target performance assessments.  His technical expertise and knowledge of missile systems has earned him the total confidence and respect of the Directorate.  In addition, Bledsoe was responsible for creating the Targets Analysis Center at TSI, and he helped develop a new proposal that provided growth of the company.


According to his nominator, “Mike is an invaluable asset and indispensable member of the Teledyne team due to his dedication, technical knowledge, and leadership.  He has done an outstanding job of managing and delivering required products and keeping all interested parties happy.”


Bledsoe holds a B.S. in aerospace engineering from Auburn University.

 

 

TSI Technical Employee of the Year

 

Alan V. Langford, Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) lead for the Capabilities Development Group (CDG) in the Combined Test Force (CTF) was selected as the TSI Technical Employee of the Year.


Langford is responsible for all coordination and assignment of work for all of the SETA (not just TSI) supporting the CDG.  He provides direct support to the chief of the CDG, who relies heavily on him for his technical expertise in numerous programs, including ABL, SSTS, Lethality, Patriot, ARROW, KEI, and NGSP.  He is noted for using innovative methods, yet always remaining conscious of cost constraints and resource allocations.


According to his nomination, “Alan’s outstanding technical breadth across the myriad of programs and technologies is impressive.  He is always working from a team perspective, both at the CTF and at TSI.  Alan is an excellent employee and a valuable team member.”


Langford, a 16-year TBE/TSI employee, holds a B.S. in military science from Cameron University and an Associate degree in liberal arts and electronics from The University of the State of New York.


Terry Raines was also a nominee.

 

 

James Michael Scherer, Sr.
Administrative Employee of the Year

 

Anita L. Fowler, General Accounting Manager, Finance, was named the James Michael Scherer, Sr. Administrative Employee of the Year for TBE.


Efforts commended were Fowler’s dedication in the last 2 years to implement a VISA purchase card and ePayables program, not just at TBE, but at all Teledyne Technologies business segments.  Her efforts are expected to result in more than $250,000 in cash rebates to TBE alone.


Fowler also served as a presenter at the 2008 National Association of Purchasing Card Professionals conference, sharing information about TBE’s ePayables program, a new technology.  Due to her outstanding presentations, Fowler was asked by Accounts Payable Network magazine to submit an article, which she later did.  Also noted was her outstanding work on improving sales and use tax reporting.


According to her nominator, “Anita’s innovative vision, customer focus, persistence with signing up vendors, and ability to work effectively with outside audit agencies continue to have a significant, positive financial impact on TBE.”


Fowler earned a B.S. in accounting from Athens State University.


Finalists for this award were Janet Salverson (Aerospace Systems) and Mark Sutherland (TSI).
