Holiday Activities
Teledyne Remembers Its Activated Employees
To remember our activated employees serving overseas, the Company conducted a holiday card-signing campaign company-wide and sent Christmas cards full of signatures and notes from co-workers to three employees currently serving in Iraq – John Moran, Jim Richards, and Jeff Willis.
For those of you who may have missed it, TBE President Rex Geveden sent out the following note of thanks to employees for participating in the campaign.
Dear Employees,
I would like to thank you for your enthusiastic response to our holiday project to send Christmas cards to employees on active duty overseas. I'm happy to report that all TBE locations responded and each card was full of signatures.
Imagine how John Moran, Jeff Willis and Jim Richards will feel when each receives at least 40 Christmas cards from their friends at TBE, TSI and TCX. This gesture from us at holiday time will mean a great deal to them.
Special thanks go out to Patty Anderson, Jackie Zarzour, Amy Pietrzak and Kathleen Miller for making this a reality.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
Rex D. Geveden
President
Employees Volunteer for Helpline Gift Wrapping
Eighteen employees and family members volunteered for the HELPline gift-wrapping project held at the two local Huntsville malls during the holiday season. Volunteers worked several hours at booths set up in the malls to wrap gifts for designated donations.
This fundraising activity helps provide essential financial support to the local HELPline 24-hour crisis/abuse services organization.
Volunteers at TBE were coordinated by TBE employee Deanna Bagwell, who has served as TBE’s recruiter for the holiday project for numerous years.
TSI Employees Provide Christmas for Those In Need
The TSI Christmas Angel Project was a huge success this year, using employee donations to provide Christmas for a Salvation Army family with four children, a 5-year-old boy, and a group of seniors.
TSI employees once again proved their generosity and kind-heartedness by donating their company holiday cards and personal cash, raising approximately $1,800 that went toward wish list purchases and other necessities. In addition, some of the employees played Santa’s helpers and provided toys and clothing themselves.
TSI Angel Coordinator Jan Bivens worked with the Salvation Army and took the helm at TSI to coordinate efforts to help a family with four girls whose house burned down shortly before Christmas. Not only were Christmas gifts needed, but incidental items also had to be replaced due to the fire. The angel fund also enabled shoppers to purchase fire trucks and fireman accessories as well as a bicycle, coat, hat, clothes, books, and other games for a 5-year-old boy who wanted to be a fireman. In addition, the Salvation Army’s senior citizens were not forgotten. TSI provided them with door prizes to be distributed at their annual Christmas lunch, including lotions, throw blankets, neck pillows, and shaving items.
To wrap up their holiday giving, TSI also donated 12 Wal-Mart cards to the effort at TBE to collect company holiday gift cards for local families of activated soldiers serving overseas.
Booster Club Remembers Deceased Employees, Immediate Family Members
As a remembrance of employees who have passed away in the past year or if an employee lost a spouse or child during the year, the Teledyne Booster Club Welfare Fund purchased fruit baskets for the family during the holiday season.
Booster Club Welfare Director Jackie Zarzour coordinates the project and arranges delivery of the basket to the surviving spouse or family of the employee. Fifteen baskets were delivered this year.
Holidays are particularly hard following a death, and the Booster Club wants those who have lost a loved one to know that they care and the individual has not been forgotten. |
