TBE Salutes Our Active-Duty Employees, Employee Family Members, and Veterans

 

To recognize Veteran’s Day and honor our employees and/or their family members who are currently serving on active duty in our nation’s military, the TBE Online News Center is once again providing our readers with a recent report on the status of “our” troops.  We would also like to thank all the military veterans who have served our country in the past.


Active-Duty Employees


Colonel Phil Austin (CollaborX); US Air Force; stationed at Peterson Air Force Base; Colorado Springs, Colo.


Lt. Col. Brent Bradley (TBE Colorado Springs Office); U.S. Air Force; stationed at Peterson AFB; assigned to USSTRATCOM; tour of duty has been extended.

 

CW2 Bonita Canales (TBE Huntsville); activated in 2009 with her National Guard unit in Huntsville.


Captain George Grant (CollaborX); US Army, stationed at Peterson AFB.


U.S. Army Reserve Captain John Moran (TBE Huntsville); 416th Engineer Command, served second overseas tour, the latter in Iraq, returned to work at TBE in early 2009.

 

Lt Col Shannon O’Harren (CollaborX); US Air Force, was called to active duty for possibly 1 to 2 years of service, serves with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Task Force in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.


Major James Richards (TSI Huntsville); U.S. Army Medical Corps, previously retired; returned stateside from deployment to Iraq in the fall of 2009.  He will remain on active duty in the states until May 2010.


Major Eric Ujfalusy (TBE Colorado Springs Office); U.S. Air Force Reserves; serves as a U.S. Air Force Academy flight instructor in Colorado Springs; expected to return to work Oct. 31, 2010.  Major Ujfalusy is a 1992 graduate of the Academy and served in the U.S. Air Force before joining the Reserves.


Jeff Willis (TBE Huntsville); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; activated in November 2008; did a year tour of duty in Iraq; returned to the states in late October 2009.


Active-Duty Family Members


Spc. Barry Askins, Jr.; U.S. Army; stepson of Brenda Askins; stationed at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii; enlisted with the U.S. Army until November 2009 and will then serve in the Reserves for 4 years. 


CDR Bradford Cooper; U.S. Navy; son of Brad Cooper; recently selected for promotion to Captain and expects to be promoted on Mar. 1, 2010.  He is assigned as the Captain Detailer and Deputy Division Chief at the Navy Personnel Center, Millington, Tenn.


AE3 Stuart Dayton; U.S. Navy; son of Janis Tangeman; currently assigned to electronic attack squadron VAQ-138 at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, Wash.; serves as a Level E-4 Aviation Electrician, inspecting and repairing the electrical components in jets; deployed from January through June of 2009 with CVW 9 Carrier Air Wing onboard the USS Stennis to the Pacific.  December 2009 will start transitioning VAQ-138 from the E/A-6b Prowler to the new E/A-18g Growler aircraft to rejoin CVW-9 for their 2011 cruise.


Lieutenant Colonel Lane Gilchrist; U.S. Air Force; son of Mike Gilchrist; is assigned to the 50th Space Operations Group at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo., as the Director of the Operations Wing Transition Team. As such, he is responsible for the integration of over $30 billion in new spacecraft programs, command and communications systems, and operations facilities for the 50th Space Wing.


HM3 Eric Hughes, U.S. Marine Corps, son of Bessie Harwell, Delta Company 2nd AAVS; serving as Lead Corpsman in Helmand Providence, Afghanistan.  Family hopes Eric is granted leave to return home around November to await the birth of his first child, a girl, due Dec. 26, with his wife, Samantha.

 

CW2 Todd Long; U.S. Army; son of Mike Long; deployed with his unit to Afghanistan in November.  He is currently assigned as a CH-47D, Chinook, helicopter pilot with the 2/3 Combat Aviation Battalion (CAB) in Savannah, Ga.


Sergeant Kyle Nelson; U.S. Army; son of Ivy Nelson, combat medic with the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division; served a 14-month tour in Baghdad; previously served 10 months in Afghanistan in 2006; returned to the states in January 2009; currently a member of the Inactive Ready Reserves and is continuing his college education at this time.


SSG William Seth Perkins; Alabama National Guard; twin son of Ray Perkins; completed his second tour of duty in Afghanistan as a member of the Alabama National Guard; is now demobilized, a civilian, and enrolled at UAH to complete his computer engineering degree.  Seth and his wife, Stephanie, had their first child, Grover Thomas Perkins, November 11, 2007.
